Nadal gave away the Hamburg Masters and his winning streak to Federer?

So Nadal did not win at Hamburg Masters. He was beaten by Roger Federer 6-2, 2-6, 0-6 in the final and loses his winning streak of 81 matches on clay just before the French Open.

I've just watched the live telecast on ESPN moment ago. Surprisingly, I'm okay with the lose because it seems that Nadal did not put too much effort into winning this championship.

I'm not sure if it's a strategy from Nadal's camp or what but without the pressure to maintain the winning streak throughout the French Open is definitely going to help Nadal concentrate on winning his third Grand Slam at Roland Garros. And losing to Federer is a smart way to lose the winning streak because after all, you are losing to the world number one.

I watched the game LIVE on ESPN too.
Nadal played very well in the 1st set but Federer played extremely well the last 2 sets.

I am not too sure if this is a strategy of Nadal camp. This can backfire too. As as Pro, they will always want to win and also the bigger prize money.

Fedex need to win badly on clay against Nadal and also improve his personal records Vs Nadal.

This will give Fedex the big confidence for the French Open as he broke Nadal record and believe that he can beat the Clay court king.

sam: I agree it might backfire but from the way Uncle Tony (Nadal's uncle and coach) nodded his head giving signal to Nadal, it seems like they are okay to let go the title and the winning streak.

che-cheh: yeah, Nadal is tired and need to rest for French Open. Federer had a lot of rest because he was knocked out early at Rome Open. Normally Nadal will miss Hamburg Open due to the straining schedule.

aceone: yes it will be back. Hopefully next month. Recently I don't have time to update the blog due to workload.

papajoneh: yea lar, lose 6-0 is impossible because Nadal never drop a set during the tournament. And if you look the way he played, he never pushed himself for the ball also. But anyway I'm glad he respect Federer.

    sam: np. I love food.

Both Nadal and Fedex are great character and they do not show temper like John McEnroe. They have huge respect for each other.
Star reported that Nadal asked for Fedex authograph and exchange shirts like after a football match. Nice gesture.

sam: Federer is cool all the time. And Nadal has been trained by his uncle to control his temper since young. So you won't see him throw his racket like that.
