missing in action

First of all, let me apologize for the lack of posts last week. In fact, totally no post since Sunday.

I've been very busy compiling data and preparing for a seminar for my research project since the new semester will reopen in July. Also, I've been very busy meeting new friends online and offline, playing pool and partying lately, which I normally wouldn't do.

My apology if I have not been able to check out your blog but I'll definitely spend more time this weekend to catch up with what I've been missing for the last week.

I have a lot of posts to be published here and share with you. See you guys later on Friday!

sex education makes its way into the classroom by next year

By next year, our children are going to start having sex education in their classrooms. The subject is known as Pendidikan Kesihatan Reproduktif dan Sosial.

I know one of my colleague is working on a series of teacher's resource/guidebook in this subject. While at the pantry this morning, she and another colleague were giggling away and I was curious what they were talking about. She told me about the project and how she felt about the pictures and terms used in the books.

Back to her cubical, I approached her and asked permission to take a look at those manuscripts. You know what? I consider myself an open minded person and support sex education. Somehow when I saw those words such as 'penis' or 'punai' used in the text and supported by real photos, I was confused. These books are going to be used for preschool and primary level. It's not that I can't accept the way the manuscripts were written but how it's going to be accepted by the public.

I don't believe it's going to be well accepted by parents and politicians once this subject makes its way into the classroom. Somehow I believe there will be certain parties who will object this subject. There will also be teachers who refused to teach this subject just like some teachers who refused teaching the reproductive chapter in Science subject in the secondary level.

I wish I can show you some pictures from the books here but it's going to be unethical.

Enrique Iglesias playing ping pong instead of tennis

Instead of playing tennis, Enrique Iglesias chose to play table tennis. The picture above shows Enrique's appearance on TRL playing ping pong against MTV VJ Damien.

His latest song, Do You Know (Ping Pong Song) is quite a catchy and infectious song. If you like his songs such as 'Escape' and 'Bailamos', you are definitely going to love this one. You can listen to this song which is at the sidebar of this blog.

If you listen carefully, a ping pong ball is really used as a percussion instrument in this song.

So far I have never missed a single album by Enrique. The album is already available in the local music stores. So going to check out the album soon.

Updates: Enrique Iglesias is still dating former tennis star, Anna Kournikova.

Koo Kien Keat & Tan Boon Heong & their LV sling bags

Okay, the mysterious sling bags used by Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong that I posted on March 24 is finally solved. Apparently I missed The Star's R.AGE issue in March 29 which mentioned the messenger bags they always carry around with them.

Earlier on, in search of the bag's identity I even emailed to LV but the customer service support centre in Asia Pacific couldn't confirm as the pictures were quite unclear. I think they don't want to make a mistake by claiming that that's their bags.

According to Boon Heong in The R.AGE, the Louis Vuitton messenger bags were bought in Switzerland and it's RM1000 cheaper than in Malaysia. Boon Heong got himself a brown one while KKK has a light grey and cream version.

Ooh, I want an LV messenger bag too. Boon Heong's version is not bad. But too bad I can only afford the Petaling Street version which of course I'm not interested at all.

Go to this link and read the complete article. (Credit: photos taken from The R.AGE website)

Interesting Hot!
Florida is one of the most well known and popular cities as beach destination in tourists. It is observed that many travelers in Florida are using flight track during their flights to track their plane which tells that where their flight may be. Many travelers prefers travel trailer and parked in it as many food and wine as they want. In Caribbean hotels for sale is common practice because of their heavy returns many investors are always willing to pay very high for them. The Caribbean is a great place to visit and to get the enjoyment of lifetime with caribbean vacation packages is really memorable experience of life.

Nadal's naked picture?

I might be Nadal's biggest fan but never in my life thought about searching for his shirtless or even naked pictures on the internet.

It was until last weekend, I checked my Getcliky site for blog traffic, I came across a reader who visited my blog looking for Nadal's naked picture. I almost dropped my laptop when I looked at it. Not because I was shocked but it was because I was laughing my ass off.

So, I try to google for his shirtless picture (sorry, no naked pictures) and this is the only one I've got. Anyone has a better picture, please forward to my email, please. Thank you! Haha!

Updates: For whom it may concern: if you are looking for Nadal's naked picture, I don't have it. However, if you still haven't give up, please visit Sam's blog instead. The picture that you are looking for is there.

Shrek 3: JT can't act and the most hilarious moment in the show

*spoiler ahead*

Justin Timberlake proves himself again that he just can't act. Not even in an animated movie. And I just can't stand his squeaky like a mouse voice.

I watched Shrek 3 last night. No doubt I'm a big fan of the show, never missed a single one. But honestly this is the worst sequal of all. It's not as funny as the first and the second. Mike Myers and Cameron Diaz characters didn't shine this time because the focus is on characters like the evil Prince Charming and the new King Arthur.

There are some hilarious moments though and I especially like the part where King Harold the frog is dying.

This movie is still worth watching and especially for those who had followed since the first movie. At least I didn't sleep in the cinema this time.

Nadal takes the French Open title for the 3rd time!

Ah...what a sweet victory for Rafael Nadal. Winning at Roland Garros again for third consecutive time definitely proves that Nadal is the indisputable clay court specialist in this era. Vamos Rafa!

So the next few tournaments are going to be on grass courts. Hope Nadal will show some good improvement on this surface like what he did at Wimbledon last year.

Astro: you pay what you watch

Personally I'm very excited because there will be another two new channels coming up on Astro on June 15. I'm all for The History Channel which will be on channel 54. The other new channel is Crime & Investigation on channel 79.

As a history buff, there's nothing better than a history channel that stand on its own. I always never get enough of history shows on Discovery Channel or National Geographic. I'm looking forward to watching shows about The Universe, about the Roman Empire, The French Revolution (my all time favourite), political and historical figures, great scientists and many more. I just wish there will be more shows about the history of China but it's kind of hard to come by especially in English programmes.

Since there will be more channels coming up, Astro subscribers don't complain too much lar. You should pay for what you watch. It's pay television! If you do not wish to pay so much, then get cheaper package. Don't complain because there are other subscribers who are willing to pay to watch these new channels.

the face behind the blog - hcfoo

I've been tagged by Anthraxxxx again! But thank you because I finally have a chance to show my cute (when I was a kid) and ugly (now) photos here. I don't have much choices of photos as most of them are in my hometown. So I'll try to use whatever is available.
I'm HCFoo and it's my real name, my initial. I was born in Kuantan and spent all my young and teenage years inside the shell. I'm the eldest in my family but I'm also the naughtiest. I grew up among kaki mahjong because my so-called god grandmother (who was also my mum's boss until she took over the hair salon business) organized daily gatherings and games behind the shop. Despite all the distraction and helping my mum washing clients' hair (all women) at the salon, I did find time to study.

So, I managed to get through Form 6 with flying colours and got into a local university of my choice. However, I did not enjoy studying because I regretted choosing the course. I chose the course based on my result and its popularity and not my interest. I spent most of my time partying in KL and PJ and discovering the magic of the cyberspace. I would say that the best moment I had in the university was getting to know my housemates. Perakians are really nice and friendly.

I've been in the educational publishing line for many years now. Although I've tried other industry (including chemical and logistic), education and publishing remain dear to my heart. I hope to further pursue my studies so that I can serve the country one day. It's always my ambition and passion to lecture in a local university. But hey, I'm not a nerd or a bookworm.

I don't have much interest. I enjoy non-fiction books, blogging, tennis, history, jazz, concerts and live music, reality shows and documentaries.

Well, as for other personal stuff, it's better remain unsaid. Now, I'm going to tag anyone in my blogroll who are interested to reveal themselves. Anyone?

french open, prediction contest and more contest

Woahoo~ another final match between Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer. Watch it on Astro SuperSport this Sunday at 9 p.m.

Since the first day of the French Open, I've been joining the the prediction contest on the Roland Garros official website. Starting at over 8000th place, I've improved to 4542 rank today.

Oh yeah, there's another contest that I joined today. I'm sure some of you guys like to watch Miami Ink on Discovery Travel and Living. I'm a huge fan of the show. If you want to go to Miami and get a tattoo from the tattoo artists in Miami Ink, go to the contest website and tell them what tattoo you want to have and why.

writer's block & other updates

10 reasons why I have nothing to blog these days

  1. Working long hours.
  2. Seldom yam char with friends because on diet. No gathering means no topics to discuss about.
  3. Don't really watch television. So don't really know what's going on television.
  4. Not much outing because no free passes, concerts or events going on recently.
  5. Only tennis is on my mind. Can't blog too much tennis though or else I will bored everyone to death.
  6. Don't really read The Star these days. So nothing to discuss about.
  7. Spending too much time on writing manuscripts after work. So I'm exhausted by the end of the day to blog.
  8. I enjoy reading blogs and writing comments more than updating mine.
  9. I'm having writer's block.
  10. I have no life?
Nah, this weekend was rather amazing. I have life indeed. I attended an amazing party on Friday and it was my first party in two years. But no details about the party I attended because not so appropriate as some of my students read my blog. What would they think of their tutor later.

And I managed to catch Miss Universe 2007 on Star World channel 70. Miss Philippines (not Miss Kangkang, mind you) whom I blogged about recently won herself Miss Photogenic. Congrats! Miss Japan is not bad but I think Miss Korea is more beautiful. But I guess saying that you love children and enjoy teaching will win you the crown. However, for me the most outstanding contestant should be given to Miss USA. Despite a slip while doing the evening gown session and being booed by the Mexicans (for political reasons), she remained calm and graceful.

While watching Miss Universe, I saw the promo of The Ellen Degeneres Show. Finally we get to see the talk show on local television network. It will be shown on Star World channel 70 on Monday at 8 p.m. starting this week.

Nadal to play in Shah Alam too this November?

Although I'm not 100% sure about this, but my source said that Rafael Nadal is definitely coming to Malaysia!

I don't understand why The Star want to keep the news tightly to themselves by not mentioning Nadal's name in the exhibition match in Shah Alam. NST sounds more sincere in letting us tennis fans know that not only Fedex and Pistol Pete will be visiting us in November, but also Nadal, the indisputable clay court specialist.

My source also said that Nadal will be playing against a local veteran tennis player. The only player that I can think of is none other than Adam Malik. Since this is an exhibition match, I don't mind settle for this match although I would like to see Fedex play against Nadal in my homegrown.

And by the way, to those of you who came into my blog searching for places to get the tickets to this exhibition match, don't worry because the organizers have not make an announcement yet. Give them some time and you guys will see it in papers.
